Pinterest Projects

I finally gave in and signed up for Pinterest.com. Then I started crafting. I never knew I could be crafty! This has been a lot of fun to find things I want and then to make them. So, the first project was a Christmas gift for my coworkers. I had a lot of gifts to do and I didn't want to do candy because I know how much candy I've received, and eaten, over Christmas. I didn't want to be responsible for anyone's diet come January 1st. Still, I needed to keep the gifts cheap- like $1-2 a piece. So, on to pinterest I went. I decided to make a peppermint sugar scrub.

What you'll need for the sugar scrub:
- mixing bowl and spoon
- 3 cups white sugar
- 1 cup + 2 Tbsp. good quality oil (I used olive oil, but you can use any nice, non-smelly oil) Note: the Olive Oil does give it a yellowish tint- use a clear oil if you don't want it to look like that.
- 10 drops of yummy-scented essential oil per jar (I went with peppermint although I felt like i needed to add more than 10 drops-maybe 20-to cover really get it to smell pepperminty.)

Combine your sugar and oil, mix it up well, and divide into separate bowls (if you're planning to flavor them separately). Add your essential oil, stir, and divide among your jars.
Done! Easy peasy! This anout made about 4 1/2 8 oz jars for me. Then I made labels and decorated the lids with scrapbook paper and ribbon. That was the really fun part for me!

My second project came to me while shopping at Hobby Lobby. I had my Mother-in-laws help with the project (which is probably why it turned out so cute).

It is a bow holder for Madeline's room.

We added hooks on the bottom to hang headbands on.

Project #3 and #4- I wanted a chalkboard, and we need a magnetic board for Madeline's alphabet magnets. Our fridge is Stainless Steel. My first thought was to paint an entire room in her playroom with magnetic paint and chalkboard paint, but Aaron was very hesitant. So, we compromised. I found a magnetic board on Pinterest and a chalkboard idea. He got the supplies and viola!

I LOVE our playroom now! It actually looks like a playroom now!

And here's what I want to do in the future:
Pinned Image
A play nook under our stairs. We have a HUGE closet that needs to be re-purposed.
Aaron is giving me a look that says I will have to wait awhile for this.
Happy crafting.
