Another workout with Bob

So It's time I took these off

And put these on!

Yep! After a month off from running to help the tendinitis in my foot to heal, I put my running shoes back on. It felt great, and my foot is better! I've worked up to 6 miles since then and am going to try... 20 miles next Monday! If I can do 20 miles without any pain (other than the normal pain after running 20 miles), then I am going to go ahead with my plan to run the LA marathon in March.

So, I ALSO got an email from BOB, my favorite trainer, (or maybe it was just the producer) and he asked me to come work out with him again. Remember the last time I worked out with Bob in October? Well, I jumped at the chance and said yes!

We had a LOONNG time to wait before the workout started while Bob filmed a food segment and a one-on-one training session, so we started snooping around the studio. It is in this old house looking building with all these rooms and lots of doors that go into little rooms. It's a pretty cool building with lots of character. Since the last time we were there, they made this really nice HUGE office with nice couches and a big desk. So, I decided to try out the couches.

Then I decided to try out the kitchen and see how I would look as a TV food chef. What do you think? Could it work?
There were 7 of us girls, 6 from the last time, and we had a great time. This time was so much more relaxed because we knew what to expect.

So when it was finally time to work out, I learned my lessons from last time 1. find a spot in the back and 2. choose to do the modified (easier) exercises! I was able to do both and I really enjoyed myself. Bob was so nice and friendly! His dog Carl was there again running around. Before we started he was chatting with us. Here's what we found out:
1. A kettle bell fell on his foot last week and it is still black and blue (I know exciting stuff!)
2. We talked about his love for Crossfit and how calloused his hands are from it.
3. I asked him what happened to the Black team last week on The Biggest Loser ( they lost the weigh in!) He said that he was really disappointed in the numbers too and that they have a nutritionist on the show this season who is telling them what to eat instead of following HIS plan and it is not working for him. He also said they are not using the BodyBugg this season and are using something else that is not good at all. I asked if the Black team would make a turn around and start winning and he assured me with full confidence (he would know, they are already done filming).

The workout was similar to the last one without as much cardio (Thank goodness!)
We started with jumping jacks, then went on to jump squats and jumping lunges- on the same leg then switch (ouch!). Next we did sumo squat with a weight. Then we went on to one handed over head press and last we did a squat with a weight and raised it to our chest. The last five minutes we did all the exercises again for 30 sec. each. Then we ended with a plank for two minutes. By then, my legs were shaking so badly!

Can you see how sweaty I am?? Well now I know why! Look at that light in the background! It gets hot in there!
So, during the warm up, Bob was right in front of me! And THEN during the lunges, he put his hand on MY shoulder and put his foot out to show how far down he wanted me to go. Wow! He's dreamy! And SO. NICE!

I am so thankful that
  • I live in California and got this opportunity.
  • that my bangs didn't go flat during that workout
  • that I didn't have a wardrobe malfunction like when I was running in a race on Saturday and my pants kept falling down
  • I took the day off and did this again.
I had a blast and can not wait for the next one!

Jennifer what fun!!! You could totally do a cooking show and I would watch/buy it!

What a neat/fun/awesome experience. And I'm glad you didn't have a wardrobe malfunction.. otherwise you would be THAT lady whose pants kept falling down.

And I'm amazed with the marathon.. I just don't know that my body/heart is cut out for it. Literally. But way to go you!!!

Keep up the good work!!
p.s.
So.. what's cookin'?

Love the pics of the family! We need a picture of Madeline to put up around here so our kids know who their cousin is! Sounds like you had fun. You are now my new claim to fame.
"Well, you know, my SIL knows Bob Harper personally." =)
