Okay, if you missed the post about HOW I ended up working out with Bob Harper for a workout video- see the last post.
So, today was the day and of course Madeline wakes up sneezing and with a runny nose. Luckily it was either only allergies or teething, so we were good to take her to day care.
After spending some extra time with her this morning, I was off to Hollywood. I got to the location about1 1/2 hours early and ate my lunch then noticed people were already arriving! Glad I got there early! I went in and found out that there were only 12 of us in the whole video! Yikes! So much for trying to hide behind people.
We got a sneak peek at Bob when we got there because we were so early. We had to sign waivers and wait and wait and wait. I was feeling sick to my stomach thinking about this workout. You could tell most of the other girls (there was one guy) were just as excited as I was.
In fact, one brought her camera and was taking pictures all over (hoping I can steal some later)- Georgia, if you're reading this- the whole time I was thinking- if you were here- that would've been you!
So, we got a late start and waited about an hour. Finally at 2:30 they called us back. Bob had taped a workout before us with the "professionals" and now it was our turn. I'm actually glad we waited so long because it gave me time to calm down!
I have to admit, when everyone got there, I was a little relieved to see people just like me. I was really worried there might be all really fit, die hard work out people, but they were normal people. They wanted a good variety of people to represent the general public. The director (I'm guessing) came back to tell us what to expect. He said that it was a 20 minute workout for a new online program Bob is doing called "Team Bob". People pay, subscribe and then get a new workout daily via the internet. This workout was one of those. I was quite relieved to learn that it was going to be online only and by subscription.
So, we went into the "studio" and there he was. He was so nice to all of us! We found a spot on the floor with mats already set up, and he went over the workout. I chose a spot in the middle, about half way back. I certainly didn't want to be in the front, and all the back spots were taken.
He went through the workout. There were about 5 exercises that we would do: burpees, mountain climber, plank, kettle bell thrust, and front kicks. So, he was super nice and explained that if we wanted to modify anything that would be great because he wanted to show people that you can do this workout at any level. Whew! What a relief! Where was the yelling?? The tears? I guess he saves that for The Biggest Loser. After a little more explaining and talking we started.
Oh, he did ask if we were watching The Biggest Loser this season, and of course we all said yes. He said, "Everyone's saying it may be the Red teams year. Um NO, I don't think so. Not a chance." Was that a hint that someone on the black team will win??? I think so?? I think we were all so awestruck to be working out with him, we all didn't say much.
So, the workout starts with side steps, and he's walking around the room the WHOLE time! I'm thinking, side steps? Piece of cake! Then he had us stop in a squat- 2 minutes in to the workout. And we hold that squat for at least 4 minutes! My legs were burning; my legs were shaking. My only consolation was to look around and see other people's legs shaking too. And this was just the warm up!
Then we went in to burpees FOREVER!!! After going through the exercises one time, we did them again. By the second time through, I was DYING! I was ready to modify those planks! Then we went through them one more time! I was watching the count down thinking, I can make it, 5 more minutes. One more minute...
Finally it ended. And I was drenched in sweat! From a 20 minute workout??!! How is that possible?? Most people were pretty sweaty too, but then there were a couple that didn't even look like they broke a sweat!
We took a group picture, and he obliged us and said we did great. I'm thinking, oh sure!
Then we took individual pictures and left. Oh, we got to see his adorable little dog! I think he has a dog sitter that brings the dog to him! Must be the life!
I should be getting a group picture sometime, and I will post that. For now all I have is the one of the two of us- after the workout! I look HORRIBLE!

So, the question is: did it motivate me? Am I inspired? YES! That workout was so hard because I haven't done any working out except running since school started.
So, tonight, I am ditching my college work and I am reactivating my boddy bugg AND downloading the workout program that goes along with my new workout dvds. My friend and I are even going to keep each other accountable for the workouts. Aaron says he only has 5 more weeks of football, so I'm hoping to get back into the gym then. And... I have a NEW jogging stroller on its way to my house!
There's motivation for you! Today was a blast! I would do it again in a heartbeat! And a HUGE Thank you to my husband for leaving football early and picking Madeline up so I could do this! Sometimes, in life, it's fun to have something crazy and out of the ordinary to do. This was one of those days.

So stinking awesome!! I'm so proud of you for being brave!! Totally cool to step out of your comfort zone. It's always worth it is isn't it? (Unless "out of your comfort zone" is off a cliff or something).
So my response:
1. "Georgia, if you're reading". Ha! like I wouldn't be reading.
2. I TOTALLY thought, "That would be me!" the second I read about the person taking the pictures. Ha! You pegged me well!
SO much FUN, Jen! Way to go.
