This morning, three of my students and two teachers met me at 8AM to run in a local 3.1 mile race. I'd promoted the race at school because the school with the most participants won $500 toward their PE program. It was a fun race last year, and I knew kids would like it if they entered. I was a little worried about how my kids would do after our practice run last week. They were barely about to do 2 miles and that was walking some of it. I worried they would run too fast the first mile and then not be able to finish the race. But they proved me wrong! They did so good! They all completed the race under 35 minutes! I am so proud of them!
I did finish in my personal best time, but I had to hurl at the end of the race. That was a first for me, and it was so embarrassing! There was nothing I could do to stop it! Talk about way too much lactic acid built up! Anyway, the great thing is that our school won! We had the most participants from one school, and got the $500 scholarship! I am so excited for our school! Go Wildcats!
