Fun day with the nieces

Yesterday I had my nieces, Emily and Hannah for the whole day! I knew the day would be long, and that I'd better plan some activities to keep them busy. Unfortunately, the air quality was so bad, that we couldn't go outside (and the fact that it was over 100 degrees!). I had to think of something else to do all day long! A 3 and 5 year old can be exhausting if you're not used to them. In the morning we baked chocolate chip cookies. I was a nice auntie and, against my better judgement, I let them eat some of the cookie dough.
After we got cleaned up, we went to John's Incredible Pizza for lunch. Thank goodness Aaron came with us; there's no way I could have done that alone! We ate pizza and more pizza and then played games after games after games! At the very end, we got dessert. The pictures are the girls eating their dessert. Aaron is disgusted by their choices and vows that our children will NOT eat this way.... we'll see. Emily was a little more practical and just wanted ice cream, but Hannah went all out with the ice cream, chocolate cake, AND cinnamon roll! Don't worry, she didn't eat everything.
After spending 2 1/2 hours at pizza, we headed home. My plan was the get them so tired, they'd sleep the rest of the afternoon. Well, the plan worked! Even Hannah slept for a while. The girls woke up just in time for their mom to arrive. It was a fun day, but after they left, I felt the need for a nap!

Sounds like a great day.

"A 3 and 5 year old can be exhausting if you're not used to them." That line made me laugh, because a 3 and 5 year old can be exhausting even if you are used to them. That's the world I live in. :)
