Spring break

While I have been quiet the last month we have been having fun! For spring break in March we went to Disneyland for a day and then to San Diego for a few days. We enjoyed visiting places we go to often like Old Town.
We stayed at this beautiful resort on Shelter Island in San Diego. Imagine my morning run on the bay! It was awesome!
I felt I needed to teach Madeline the important things in life like ghiradelli chocolate and ice cream!

Daddy walking Madeline, I mean Ariel, at Disneyland. Madeline finally got to meet Ariel! It was an awesome experience!

We also went to the Safari park in San Diego. It was so cool! We loved the safari park and will go back soon.

And we loved Sea World again! Madeline loves the Sesame Street Bay of Play! I am not sure she even knows there are fish there!

We ate some yummy dinners while away.

In other news, I have been injured and trying to train for a marathon at the same time. Here are my new ProCompression socks to help me recover from long runs faster. Unfortunately I haven't had too many long runs lately. In February, I started my marathon training by using a real training guide. Silly me. I thought I cold double my milage in a week and be fine. Within two weeks I was hurting. I went to the foot dr. and found out I had tendonitis on both side of the back of my ankle. I tried to take a couple of weeks off (kind of...) and get back in to it, but it was still hurting.

Next, I started physical therapy at this great PT place! I am very impressed with my therapist and feel he has helped to get to the root of the problem! However, I have had to be "broken down" mentally to get to the place where I realize I need to cut back on running to get better.

So, a little over a month before the San Francisco marathon that I am signed up to run, I am feeling better. Not healed, but well enough to get back to training... slowly. Unfortunately, you can not buil enough milage for a marathon in a month when the last two weeks are tapering. So, I am stuck with a decision to make. It is so mental, and I am doubting,.... really doubting myself. And.. I feel like I have other priorities that are conficting with this marathon... ugh! But then there's the chance to prove to myself I CAN do this... I just don't know. I'm supposed to run 22 miles in the hills this weekend that I haven't wrapped my mind around yet. I guess we will see how that goes. Thankfully, there are two half marathon options also, so I will be running something in a month... just not sure what...

And that's life lately... All this injury makes me feel so old!
